HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY LUCY!

ROSE GOLD + BLUSH BALLOON BOUQUET // DOG GLITTER GROWN // LET’S PAWTY BALLOONS

Unless you are a crazy dog lady like I am, this post may seem ridiculous to you, but to me it’s so important. My Lucy girl turns one today and I have to give you a background on just how much this dog means to me. Dogs are healers, they have always brought immense joy to me (I remember every birthday wish, every single candle, I wished for a dog!). I believe they are therapeutic and God gave us these beautiful creatures to love and care for, but somehow they always end up loving and caring for us way better. Last year, Neal and I were married for almost a year when we decided to finally get our puppy (I think I had begged him since the day we moved in together, lol). I had grown up with our family dog, Bandit and I missed having a wagging tail at home (p.s. Bandit is still kicking it and living his best life with my parents, I still smother him all the time, he’s my old boy). We knew we weren’t ready to start a family with children at that point, but we longed to love, care, nurture and hold something in the meantime — enter Lucy! We picked her up at 3 months old (last June) and she was born on, April 10, 2017, so we’ve practically had her from the beginning of her life!

We picked her name from I love Lucy because she was such a silly girl, but still so charming! We always say: “you gotta lot of explaining to do” to her, haha!

She is so sassy, majorly dominant and challenged us (a lot) when she was a puppy, but she was also the sweetest, cuddliest little creature that has brought so much joy to Neal and I. I know children are different from dogs, but if you’ve had a dog before then you know how much they are like family. She will always be our first baby! I always knew Neal would be a great dad one day, just by how loving, selfless and caring he is for me, and watching him be so sweet with Lucy makes me even more excited for the day God puts a (human) baby on our hearts (not yet, wink wink). This little 20 pound nugget has taught us so much about being a team and growing/caring for something together other than ourselves and our business. Animals teach you so much, mostly how unconditionally they love you no matter what…

“A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water logged stick will do just fine. A dog doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he’ll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?”

That time @thedogist took her photo for the Forever Against Animal Testing campaign with The Body Shop!

A year of pampering: spoiled with bath soaks from her favourite groomer, Bryanna!

Lucy inspired a whole collection in my shop, SS PRINT SHOP last year!

A year of cuddles (she loves being wrapped like a burrito), endless love and so much laughter. She makes us laugh so hard and brings us so much joy. Thank You God for dogs!!

Mama & Papa Love you, Lucy! xoxo (because she reads this blog, of course)
