OCCASION DRESSING

Dress: Truly Zac Posen at David’s Bridal // Diamond Earrings: David’s Bridal // Nude Heels: David’s Bridal

It’s the start of June, which means wedding season is in full swing (among many other social occasions)! Neal and I have a few this year and right when I get the invitation I take a cue from the theme/location to pick my outfit. Everyone has different themes, vibes, dress codes etc. so it’s really important to take that into consideration when deciding what to wear. For example, if I was invited to a wedding at a vineyard or barn I would find something a bit more casual and short, but let’s say it’s a black tie event, this would be perfect! I’ve teamed up with David’s Bridal to share my take on occasion  dressing, since we’re entering the peak season for them! It’s a great destination for on-trend styles (perfect for all kinds of weddings/events) and at an affordable price (great if you have more than one event this year and want to mix it up). It’s not just for weddings either, there are so many styles to choose from (both long and short dresses) and the best part is they offer sizes 0-22!

Today I thought it would be fun to throwback to the venue I got married in — a castle in Toronto called Casa Loma! It’s a classic, fairytale location that hosts a lot of charity galas and wedding events. We’re going on our two year wedding anniversary this July and it was kind of crazy going back there to shoot this gown. I imagine if I was a guest at our wedding (which would be so fun to attend all over again if it was ever possible, am I right?) I would want a long, statement gown like this one! A dress like this seems only wedding appropriate, but I think it would be fabulous if you were attending a gala or charity event that was black-tie also! You can be a little extra at the ballet or the opera (which I am all about, because why not!) and prom (if you’re one of my younger readers) getting more wear out of a dress like this rather than hanging it up after a wedding. I love how the long train is all romantic and classic, and then the hemline goes higher in the front which adds a little playfulness for a party!
